An “active” quality program utilizes material traceability, inspections, testing, and skilled employees to insure that problems do not leave the plant. Driconeq is in the process of become ISO certified. This is a good indication of a strong quality program and an indication of the importance of assuring quality to their manufacturing philosophy. Both friction and inertia welding rely on the correct material specifications, correct parameters during the weld process, and good heat treat procedures afterward. By testing a weld in each production run, the integrity of these processes is insured. This procedure is not practiced with most manufacturers of waterwell, mining, and construction drill rods.
